These patterns caught my eye during a trip to @joa These patterns caught my eye during a trip to @joann_stores. So, natch, I had to share them with you, sewing fam, to get your opinion. πŸ’™ Pic 1: Our stitching sister @mimigstyle is VP of design, patterns, and brand management at The Big 4. As part of her VP role, she launched @knowmepatterns - patterns from sewists in the online sewing community. One of those sewists is @thecornyrainbow (pictured here). This double-breasted dress pattern is giving me early '90s Easter frock, and I am HERE for it. It's so playful! πŸ’™ Pic 2: I like that this @burda_style pattern is sized for curvy bodies. πŸ‘ This smart two-piece suit is designed for PONTE, which means it'll be easy to sew AND wear. Stretch blazer, stretch pull-on pants... Heck. Yes. Please. Thank. You. So versatile. πŸ’™ Pic 3: This pattern grabbed my attention because of the neckline. At first I thought, "Does this make her head look like a present, wrapped in a ribbon?" Then I thought, "Is this a bondage-inspired look? Those straps look... restricting." The sweetheart dip at the bust is cool, but all the straps are too much of a good thing. πŸ’™ Over to you: Can you talk me into the strap-'splosion? Yo, princess seams are the sh!t. For realz. (Imagi Yo, princess seams are the sh!t. For realz. (Imagine hearing that in the voice of Jesse Pinkman. (I recently finished watching "Breaking Bad," sorry not sorry).) πŸ’™ But seriously, though. If you need to make a fit adjustment to the FRONT of a bodice (shirt, dress, etc.), you want a princess seam. πŸ’™ A princess seam lets you fiddle with fit EXACTLY where you're running into challenges accommodating body volume (for the front, that's usually tum and ta-tas). πŸ’™ Did you know that you can transformπŸͺ„ any darts into a princess seam? She literally dragged it around the house and brought it to me to play fetch with. When was the last time you went to @joann_stores t When was the last time you went to @joann_stores to just have a wander? πŸ’™ I had a goal-less wander around Joann recently, and I wanted to share with you some fabric that caught my eye. πŸ’™ Pic 1: A faux orange sherpa situation. This rainbow plaid looks SO MUCH LIKE @robertkaufman Mammoth flannel in the Durango colorway (which I know because I sewed a dress in it). This fabric had a high squish factor. πŸ’™ Pic 2: Mushroom flannel. Lots of mushrooms at JA overall. I love this print and wanted to buy a couple of yards only for the purpose of sewing pajama pants. I'm basic. πŸ’™ Pic 3: Moth flannel. This captured my attention because it reminded me of a @tulapink print. (In case you don't know Tula Pink designs fabric primarily for quilting.)
